RN-Uvatneftegaz Plants 600,000 Saplings of Siberian Pine

19 November 2020

RN-Uvatneftegaz Company, part of Rosneft Oil Company’s upstream complex, planted 600,000 saplings of Siberian pine in the south Tyumen region in autumn 2020. The area of forestation surpassed 280 hectare.

Planting of forestry crops was performed in 29 large areas in the south of the region intended for forest recreation work.

The pine planted by the upstream enterprise is a valuable wood species. Its seedlings were raised in a nursery garden up to a size of 15 centimeters at which their root system shows high survivability in the region’s conditions.

To achieve the best performance and the strategic goal in environmental protection, defined in the Rosneft-2022 Strategy, the Company improves approaches to environmental management, increases the scale of environmental measures and the necessary investments for these purposes. RN-Uvatneftegaz implements key programmes aimed at rational use of associated petroleum gas, increasing the reliability of pipelines, effective water resources management and management of wastes, soil reclamation, and environmental assessment.

Traditionally, the employees of RN-Uvatneftegaz take part in ‘Day of Forest Planting’, ‘Let’s Save the Forest’ and ‘Green Spring’ nationwide Russian environmental campaigns, as well as perform landscape gardening at the oilfield sites. In spring the oilmen planted 6,500 pine seedlings in Tyumen’s suburbs. Children of employees also take part in environmental campaigns.
